I’ve been doing cardio but haven’t been noticing the weight loss I was expecting. When is the best time to do cardio?
There are two times that are the absolute best times to do cardio when trying to loose fat. The first time would be immediately upon waking, before you eat breakfast. The reason being is because you didn’t eat anything throughout the night you energy stores are depleted. With no direct energy stores your body goes right to fat for energy. Now be careful as you can also loose muscle mass doing fasted cardio upon waking, so we recommend using a BCAA product. This will give your body the aminos it needs, sparing muscle tissue and increasing fat loss. The next time to do your cardio would be immediately after workout. Again after a hard workout you have burnt through all your stored energy (Glycogen) so your body goes straight
to fat tissue for energy.

I’m looking to loose weight, my diet is where it should be and im training 4-5 days a week. What sort of supplements should I be taking?
We would definitely want to start you off with a Multivitamin and Fish Oil supplement. The multi vitamin will help increase daily energy levels, sense of well being and overall health. The fish oil will help to increase metabolism, increase joint health and assist in fat loss. We would then want to move into a Detox product, as this is going to help clean out the liver, kidneys, gull bladder and colon. By cleaning out the whole body we can remove a lot of toxins, reduces gasses and greatly reduce bloating. A protein and glutamine supplement will make
sure that your recovering from your workouts and gaining the lean muscle that will further increase metabolism, resulting in even greater fat loss.

What should I be using after my workout, is Protein alone enough?
No, protein alone is not enough. If you take protein post workout without carbohydrates, your body actually breaks down the amino acids, removes the nitrogen and converts these amino acids into sugar. So instead of having the protein to actually build muscle your body uses it for energy. By using Carbs with protein post workout, you will spare the protein so that it can be used to increase muscle growth, the carbs will be used for energy and the muscle building process can begin.

What’s the best way to loose weight, should I lower my calories very low?
Absolutely not, the first thing people want to do when loosing weight is make a dramatic decrease in the caloric intake. What actually happens in this scenario is the metabolism slows way down and you end up holding onto the excess weight. Getting 6 small meals a day and avoiding carbohydrates at night will keep you loosing weight and keep your metabolism high.

What’s the best source of protein, Whey, Casein or Egg Albumin?
Ideally a combination of all 3 would actually be your best source. They all provide different amino acid breakdowns and each have their own benefits. Actually 1 study compared the effects of 40g Whey vs. 30g Whey + 10g Casein, in a 10 week period the subject group consuming the Whey/Casein mix gained significantly more muscle mass then the whey only group.

I am a new mother and breastfeeding my baby but I want to lose this baby weight, can I take a weight loss supplement?
I would ask your doctor what supplements if any that you can take since you are still breastfeeding.

What’s the difference between a protein shake and a meal replacement shake?
We get asked this question several times a week, generally a protein shake is just a supplement to help you achieve your daily protein intake whereas a meal replacement not only  gives you protein, but also has some good fats, good carbs, and vitamins that you would normally get from eating a meal.

I am 15 years old and need to lose weight, is it ok for me to take a fat burner?
I would not recommend that you take a fat burner at your age, there are some other supplements that are stimulant free that may assist you but more importantly your diet and exercise will play a bigger role in your weight loss.  Come in to see us and we will assist you with your diet and exercise for FREE!

I have been taking a whey protein shake after my workouts but still seem to be very sore and not recover very well.  Is there anything else that you suggest to help me recover faster?
